About Us
Direct Driver started in 2018 when our director, Kurtis, began working as a driver-for-hire across industries from food distribution to European events. In 2020, during the pandemic, he bought a small curtain-sider van and began serving local businesses in Huddersfield, the beginning of our growth story.
Today, we’ve grown into a 24/7 transport company with a fleet of ten vehicles, supported by a dedicated team of drivers and office staff. We continually reinvest in our vehicles, equipment, and people, keeping the same values we started with: reliable service, fair rates, and lasting customer relationships.
Whether it’s a single box or a full artic load, we have the experience, resources, and commitment to deliver.
After redundancy and with a baby on the way, Kurtis takes control of his future, starting out as a one-man-band "driver for hire." With a class 1 license and a strong work ethic, Direct Driver Ltd is born. Originally working for various agencies before starting on European events.
When COVID-19 halts the events industry, the business pivots. Using a Bounce Back loan, Kurtis invests in a 3.5t Iveco van and rebuilds from the ground up, networking with local businesses and creating lasting partnerships across Huddersfield.
Growth accelerates. Direct Driver secures its Operator's License, adds an 18t DAF rigid and begins taking on larger commercial contracts. The team expands and so does the reputation for reliability and professionalism.
Operating a fleet of 5 vehicles and employing 4 full time drivers, the company continues to grow. Direct Driver further invests in its fleet adding a brand new curtain sider van and its first articulated truck.
Operating a fleet of ten vehicles and employing eleven full-time staff, the company scales up further. Direct Driver achieves FORS Bronze accreditation and is featured in FORSight Magazine, setting its sights on Silver and Gold accreditation. Demonstrating our commitment to the health and safety of our staff and customers as well as our commitment to protecting the environment.
With plans for fleet expansion, warehousing and new facilities over the next 12 months, Direct Driver remains committed to flexibility, professionalism and continuous improvement, raising the bar for regional haulage whilst maintaining our core values. We have some exciting plans for our future which will further enhance our customer experience to the high standards we have always strived for.
